As @Idecboxing reported, WBA 140 titlist Alberto Puello tested positive for banned PED. I have obtained the VADA letter with details. He tested positive for same substance as Benn. Will be stripped of title & Romero likely to face Barroso instead for vacant belt May 13. pic.twitter.com/BB4jIvVkeT

The WBA super lightweight titleholder, Alberto Puello, has tested positive for a banned substance called clomiphene, which is a performance-enhancing drug. As a result, Puello is set to lose his title, and his first defense against Rolando Romero has been canceled.
Instead, Romero will face Ismael Barroso for the WBA’s Interim super lightweight title. Barroso was supposed to be fighting on the non-televised portion of the Puello-Romero undercard but will now have a chance to win the Interim title.
Puello will go through the appeals process, and if his "B" sample also comes back positive, he will be stripped of the WBA belt he won eight months ago. Clomiphene is the same substance for which Conor Benn tested positive before his fight against Chris Eubank Jr. in October 2022. Benn has maintained his innocence since the test results were revealed.
Puello has consequently been removed from what was supposed to be his first WBA super lightweight championship defense against Rolando Romero.
